Warden — Privacy Notice
Last updated 13 August 2026
Warden helps a Shopify merchant find products that could put their store at risk under Shopify's Acceptable Use Policy and Shopify Payments terms. To do that it reads the merchant's own product catalogue. It does not read, receive or store any data about the store's customers.
What we store
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Store domain | To identify your shop and your subscription. |
| Your app settings | e.g. whether automatic monitoring is on. |
| Scan results | The risk score and the list of products flagged, so the dashboard loads without re-scanning. Product text only — your own listings. |
What we never store
No shopper data of any kind: no names, emails, customer IDs, addresses, IP addresses, orders or payment information. Warden has no access to that data and requests no scopes that would grant it — it reads product listings only.
Retention & deletion
Scan results and settings are kept while the app is installed and are deleted when you uninstall, in response to Shopify's shop-redaction request. You can request deletion at any time.
Advisory, not a guarantee
Warden flags language and categories that commonly trigger Shopify enforcement. It is a best-effort early warning, not a guarantee of compliance and not legal advice. Shopify's policies are the authority; we link to them so you can verify every finding.
